Using HyperLynx® from Siemens EDA, formerly Mentor Graphics, we will perform a complete simulation on your entire PCB to investigate signal integrity and crosstalk violations, which are recorded in log files.

    TRIAS Board-Level Power Integrity Simulation

    Ask yourself the following questions:

    • Do we design complex PCBs with multiple power & ground levels and low supply voltages or low voltage tolerances?
    • Are we worried about high current densities on your boards?
    • Do we want to reduce our product costs by optimising the number and values of decoupling capacitors?
    • Are we worried about the propagation of noise through the power planes of our boards?

    Power integrity analysis includes the following types of simulations:

    • DC Drop: Checks on how much voltage is lost along the way due to the board geometry between power supply and the various loads. If this voltage drop is too large, your active components could be supplied with a lower voltage than required and consequently result in a malfunction.
    • AC Decoupling: Calculates the impedance of the Power Distribution Network (PDN) over a specific frequency range and the effect of installed decoupling capacitors on this impedance. We will selectively enable / disable the installed capacitors and simulate the impact of these changes on the PDN impedance. This allows us to determine the optimal configuration to avoid oversizing and will reduce product costs.
    • Plane noise propagation: Using a given noise source model and frequency, HyperLynx® calculates noise propagation through the PDN to determine the maximum noise level.
